Senior Cricket

All senior teams play competitive cricket in the Lancashire County League. The club runs a 1st XI, 2nd XI and a 3rd XI. Social and recreational cricket is catered for in friendly games which are played on some Sundays in the season.

The 1st XI in season 2002 will be captained again by Alan Starmer. He is aiming to go one better than last year when they finished close runners up in the league.

Alan Badenhurst from South Africa also returns as the Club's overseas player. Alan is a First Class player from East London in Border and he has played for the State of Eastern Province. In addition to the League Cup Competition the 1st XI will also be playing in the Lancashire Knockout Cup Competition and the National Village Knockout Competition.

Mike Heppell continues as 2nd XI team captain. The 2nd XI had an excellent season last year when the team almost completed the double, finishing league champions and beaten finalists in the cup.

Opportunities for anyone now wishing to play cricket at the club are always available in either the 3rd XI or friendly fixtures. The club is always interested to hear from any experienced cricketers wishing to play senior cricket. Any enquiries should be directed to Mike Heppell, Club Secretary on 0161 682 7411.

Practice night for seniors is on Thursday between 6.00pm and 8.30pm.
