Ben Brierley
(1825-1896) |
|
|
 |
Ben Brierley
is a real funny one, the people who know of him hold him in very high
regard, and he is probably the single most 'name sake' in Manchester.
We have been left many
legacies from this brilliant Failsworth born writer, one of the most famous
is that of Daisy Nook, which became a real tourist spot after his poem ' a
summer ramble in Daisy Nook'.
Plenty to read about here
so put the kettle on and enjoy.
Resident author David Huk
also wrote his biography, and shares his affection for Ben with you all. |

known locally for his work, 'Short Stories about Failsworth Folk' published
in 1905 which tells of many tales around Failsworth at the time, the
funniest being the story of the Ugliest man in Failsworth. |
