Tesco opened it's doors to customers towards the end
of July, with Oldham Cancer Support being given the
honour of officially opening the store. Oldham
Cancer Support, who hope to open a new therapy
facility in Failsworth Health Centre were presented
with a cheque for £1,000 from the Tesco Charitable
Trust.
HIGHWAYS
Council officers have been instructed to keep a
watching eye on traffic flow on surrounding roads
both now, and in the coming months when schools
reopen after the summer holidays - a time when
traffic can be busy.
We have received some concerns over pedestrian
safety for those wishing to cross the car park and
have passed those on the the developer to find a
potential solution.
WORK STILL TO DO

Whilst Tesco is a key part of the new centre, and
the a catalyst for regeneration there is still much
to do to create a town centre, not just a
supermarket.
Work is underway to design a new state of the art
community/civic centre. Once this is built new
shopping units can then be built on the site of the
current community centre so that there is not a
break in trade for retailers. We have been promised
a landmark building to signal the regeneration of
Failsworth - and we'll hold them to it!
Please remember that all shops are still trading
on the 'Northbank' such as Co-op Travel, Key
Cutting/Shoe repairs, Post Office and more. |
