'we should be asking who is in charge of this project and demand answers'

'how typical of the passive generation to mess this up'
Mrs V Winters, Failsworth

'give it time - Rome wasn't built in a day. Also the old centre was so bad I can hardly tell the difference between that and this building site'
Mr M Fairhurst, Failsworth

'the work hasn't stopped - its just hasn't started yet, my understanding is that the work recently completed was for the canal restorations'

It was a daring vision, A top class marina and state of the art health centre was the promise, exciting developments to come.

High hopes of a new heart for Failsworth are rapidly slipping away as Oldham Council 'forgets' us, the Failsworth and Hollinwood area committee were told.

Now the land which stands baron has been abandoned by the site cabins, 'the builders move out and the vandalism starts' one Ashton Road West resident said.

If we are to get the heart put back into Failsworth then residents need to keep up the fight - its no use moaning after the fact!

Can you imagine Failsworth without its Pole? Well the Pole would be a distant memory if it had not been for the fighting spirit in Failsworth at the time between 1950 - 1558 when the forth Pole blew down.

The towns motto is 'true worth never fails', and never before has it meant so much to the town as now.

But in an age where Failsworth gets forgotten by the Council, perhaps for once true worth might just fail!

'anything would be an improvement on the old garage'
Mr E Turner, via Email

Failsworth and Hollinwood Area Committee approved a planning application made by Morrison's to open a petrol station on the site of the former Save station at Oldham Road.

Concerns that the proposed 24hr opening would affect local residents of Old Road and the nursing home at Firs Hall, it was agreed to restrict the opening hours.

Other concerns were that an LPG tank would be surfaced mounted which raised safety concerns, the committee were informed that Embassy Gas only a few metres away used LPG tanks without affecting safety.

Consideration was also given the appearance of the site and it stated that landscaping of the perimeter would be done with evergreens.

Failsworth now welcomes the return of its only petrol station
