NEWS FAILSWORTH COMMUNITY COUNCIL COMING!

Failsworth is in line to have it's own Community Council following approval this week.

Councillor Peter Dean explains more "Community Councils will be the voice of Failsworth and will bring together representatives from residents, voluntary groups and church groups, amongst others. They will direct services for their area from street cleaning, parks & open space improvements, youth provision, crime prevention and tackling anti-social behaviour to name a few".

Failsworth Pole Conservation Area is getting a long needed makeover, thanks to pressure from local councillors and local residents who worked in partnership to secure funding.

Work at Failsworth Pole has met with the public's seal of approval since it's official opening in June 2006, so good in fact that local resident's and councillors wanted to carry on all the way up Main Street and Claremont Street.

Councillor Jim McMahon said "it is essential that we continue to fight to improve Failsworth. The rich history of Failsworth should be built upon and so it makes sense to renovate the Failsworth Pole Conservation Area with the help of local residents".

A report was commissioned last year on the conservation area which outlined areas of improvement which were needed.

Main Street and Claremont Street will see traditional stone sets being laid. In addition heritage street signs and barriers will be installed.
