OLDHAM MBC PRESS RELEASE

Refurbishment work starts on Failsworth canal bridge

A £41,000 refurbishment scheme is due to start on the A62 Failsworth canal bridge next Tuesday (28 January).

The work, being carried out by staff from the Council's Environmental Services Department, involves removing and rebuilding the existing parapet, as well as pointing and cleaning the brick supporting walls. It is part of the Council's on-going maintenance programme of work.

Acting Assistant Director responsible for Highways and Engineering Tony Noblet said that once the work was complete the bridge would look a lot more attractive than it does at the moment, something local people would benefit from.

The works, which will take around four weeks to complete, will not affect traffic on the A62 Oldham Road or on the Rochdale Canal.

1972 FAILSWORTH HANDBOOK

NEW...

We have now added the 1972 Failsworth Handbook to our archives.

The book was printed by the Failsworth Urban District Council and was the last of its kind produced.

It is a great historical piece so please take a look!

You can see the original at Failsworth Library on Main Street, although they are for reference only.

Either click on the link below or go to Failsworth on the Menu bar to your left.
