NEWS AFTER A LONG WAIT... IT'S COMING!

This week has seen the steel frame structure being placed for the new Tesco supermarket.

This is a milestone in the town centre development which has been ongoing since the reopening of the Rochdale Canal.

Councillor Peter Dean said "real progress is now being made and we are seeing the results. We must now concentrate our efforts on our new community centre and the Oldham Road side of the canal, where we hope to continue the regeneration of Failsworth with high quality shops, restaurants and other key services".

The housing development, Ben Brierley Wharf is also nearing completion as the perimeter fence is removed to reveal the new apartments, which were designed to reflect Failsworth mill heritage. A modern day reminder of the Gladstone Mill which used to be on the same site.
