Failsworth District centre is still no closer to becoming a reality as the new Health Centre slows things down. The requirements for a Health Centre have change since the plans were drawn up, as now they are expected to be a 'one-stop shop' and provide a whole range of services.

A retailer still has not come forward although the site may well still attract interest from major brands.

You can find out more by coming along to the Failsworth and Hollinwood area committee, the next meeting is on Thursday 14th November 2002 at Failsworth community centre, Sisson Street.

HOUSING SHORTAGE AT BREAKING POINT

Failsworth is echoing national fears that the house shortage is worsening. Properties new to the market are selling within a week and for double the price they would of sold for just 6 months ago. A local agent told us  'people are into the idea that well our house is worth more, but don't want the hassle of moving, so they are having improvements such as extensions or conservatories built instead, only one out of twenty valuations actually comes onto the market'.

The average price for a 3 bedroom semi is now £75000 - £85,000. The price is increasing month on month - and showing no signs of slowing down.

If you have a property to sell in Failsworth let us know and we'll post it!
